Creating Impact
Thanks to the extraordinary support from local foundations and community friends, WISE received a record $88,000 in funding through
fundraisers, monthly gifts, donations, and grant funding in 2023-2024.
The Community Foundation of the Virginias has generously provided over $75,000 in grant funding to help supply personal hygiene products to local students. Their support has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining Care Closets in schools across Mercer, Tazewell, and McDowell counties, ensuring that students have access to essential items. Their ongoing commitment to the well-being of our youth has made a significant and positive impact on our communities.
The United Way of Southern West Virginia has provided grant funding of $1,000 in 2021 for the purchase of COVID supplies and an additional $3,500 in 2021 to provide Care packages for local shelters and our WISE staff and volunteers. Funding was also earmarked for women's health awareness and support to help local women work towards financial independence.
In 2021, WISE received a printing grant
in the amount of $500 from One by One for promotional materials to help continue
sharing about WISE in our community.
We are pleased to work with One by One
again in 2022, 2023, and now for a fourth time and
are proudly the recipient of their August 2024
promotional non-profit grant.
Since 2021, the Bluefield Elks Club has generously funded grant requests totaling over $20,000 to support the WISECares program, which assists drug-court participants, and provides services and supplies to local domestic violence shelters and halfway houses through our Baskets of Hope program. Their support has made a significant difference in helping those in need and fostering hope in our community.
The healthcare workers at Princeton Community Hospital held a scrub drive for WISE in 2024 and donated over 375 pounds of scrubs.
All donations received will be used to help
students and new healthcare workers secure the uniforms they need to study and begin their
work in the healthcare field in our area.
We are so blessed that they donated to us!
WISE is very thankful for the generosity of
Cathy & Fred Muth. Through their
donations, WISE has been able to
upgrade the equipment in the office and
in our charity shop. Additionally, we have
been able to upgrade our storage
systems for our Care Closet program.
The Muth's also arranged for the charity shop
to receive a facelift!
